Network Specialist

Maintaining the integrity and security of company’s network and the systems connected to it.

  • Solid working knowledge of L3 routing protocols--especially BGP.
  • Hands-on with LAN/switching protocols: PVSTP+, MST, 802.1Q, LACP, LLDP.
  • Experience with network operating systems such as IOS and JunOS.
  • Control-plane administration: SNMP, Cacti, MRTG and RRDTools.
  • Configuration management & change management.
  • Proven experience managing VPN solutions.
  • Experience security audit, logging, and event response.
  • Strong command-line and multi-platform scripting skills,e.g. Bash, TCL.
  • Excellent knowledge of network security including firewalls, DDoS, and IDS/IPS.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience of maintaining converged network infrastructure.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Additional networking experience a plus: VoIP, QoS, MPLS.
  • Additional DevOps experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically requires 5-7 years of relevant IT work experience.
  • Experience in the network solutions and infrastructure area for 3-5 years.
  • Experience with a wide variety of networking technologies required.
  • To set up, monitor and maintain the computer network systems.
  • Review the network requirements of the company and setup systems accordingly.
  • Train all the office staff on using the network.
  • Design rules and regulation for the use of the networks which apply to everyone.
  • Maintain a thorough check on what work is being done on the networks.
  • Repair work on the computers and the network also falls in their jurisdiction of work.
  • Any requirement for computer equipment and software have to be made to the network specialist.
  • Maintain an inventory of hardware and software equipment that would be required for the network.
  • To oversee the installation of network in new office and other areas of the company where the computers of communication systems are being installed.
  • In charge of protecting the network system and help design the company intranet.
  • Constantly review, test and improve the systems.
